As Superintendent of the Hart County Schools, I welcome you to our new 2013-14 school year. There is excitement in the air in each of our schools, and we are looking forward to the new challenges as we ensure that every student becomes College and Career ready. As I enter my twelfth year as your Superintendent, I appreciate this opportunity in creating the future for Hart County.
Of our six schools, five are proficient or distinguished. In the fall of 2012, only 30% of the schools in the state were rated as proficient and/or distinguished, and we are proud of what our students and staff have done to make our schools successful. Bonnieville Elementary is a Proficient Middle School. Cub Run Elementary is a School of Distinction for Middle Schools. LeGrande Elementary is a Proficient Elementary School and a Distinguished Middle School. Memorial Elementary is a Proficient Middle School. Munfordville Elementary is a Proficient Elementary School and a Proficient Middle School. Hart County High School missed being Proficient by 1 point, ranking the high school in the top 31 percent of all high schools in the state.
As the new principal at Hart County High School, Mr. Greg Cecil comes to us with years of administrative experience. He joins a staff of five other elementary principals, all who have administrative experience in proficient or distringuished schools.
We are continuing our laptop program at Hart County High School. We are one of only six high schools in Kentucky who provide laptops for each student. We know this initiative has helped students reach their goals and will continue to help with instruction and student progress.
We are working daily to monitor the progress of our schools and students as we implement the Common Core Standards given to us by the Kentucky Department of Education. We know the expectations that our teachers and students face, and we will assist in giving each student and teacher the tools to be successful.
We ask that you browse our website, from the district level to the individual school sites, to learn more about our Hart County Schools, as we work to create the future together….one student at a time.
